Way-Finding with Dreams

DEPTH PSYCHOLOGY EVENTS

When you listen to specific requests that come to you through dreams, you find out what your ego blocks about your own abilities.

The more you know about what you have, the more you may understand about what to do with it.

The process of self-unfolding by listening to dreams is called individuation in Jungian psychology.

Bring your dreams and experience gaining access to their deeper layers with help from a Jungian psychotherapist. The workshop will include a brief lecture on five aspects of seeking deeper purpose from a depth psychotherapy perspective.

The presenter, Carrie Sword, holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and has 27 years experience in depth psychotherapy, with a specialization in Jungian dreamwork.

This supportive, educational workshop will happen
Saturday, October 4, from 5 – 7 p.m. The cost is $45.

Location: Dream Therapy Minneapolis, Northeast Minneapolis.

Individuation: Finding the Roots of Purpose

DEPTH PSYCHOLOGY EVENTS

Arriving at an authentic sense of purpose is like falling in love.

When it really happens, you come to feel it deeply and know it surely. It animates how you experience everything. Getting there is the topic of this workshop. We’ll start with creative movement, and by shining a light on the interconnection between soma and psyche. We’ll trace the inborn urge toward self-actualization that travels through both. The resulting process is what Jungian psychology calls “individuation.” https://iaap.org/jung-analytical-psychology/short-articles-on-analytical-psychology/individuation-2/

The Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung said the Self is what propels this unfolding. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/67885.The_Portable_Jung

But what is the Self? In this workshop, I’ll share keys to accessing your psychological depths. I’ll provide examples from my practice as a Jungian psychotherapist of how the Self appears in an individuation process, including consideration of psychological symptoms, somatic experiences, synchronicies, and dreams. I’ll share a series of drawings and paintings that document one person’s individuation. I’ll also present examples of individuation in various people, and I’ll show you how to recognize promptings from the Self. Discussion, brief exercises, and Q&A will be interspersed throughout the workshop.

Individuation & Yoga: Set Your Practice on Fire

DEPTH PSYCHOLOGY EVENTS

Yoga awakens your somatic life.

Soma and psyche make excellent collaborators. With an awakened somatic life, you are a step away from picking up the thread that leads to the roots of a sense of purpose. This sense of purpose is as endemic to you as your internal organs. In fact, it might be described as the lungs of your subtle-body.

If you’ve developed the ability to quiet your mind through yoga or meditation, you may have sometimes had dream-like images pass through your awareness. You’re fully awake, yet the images manifest out of the blue. These are hypnagogic images. The cloth from which they’re cut is the interface between the physical body, the subtle body, and the psyche.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to access the meaning of liminal yoga experiences; you’ll learn how these experiences are related to dreams in depth psychology; and you’ll receive keys to understanding how physical symptoms sometimes function as somatic dreams.

This workshop will inspire yoga practitioners and yoga teachers, adding a dimension that propels personal evolution. For those less familiar with yoga, the event will add a somatic dimension and a source of symbolic input to your practice.
